Canada South
Coast Adventures
The Essex Region Conservation Authority and its partners introduce
Canada South Coast Adventures. These ecotours showcase beautiful
Carolinian forests, the global Important Bird Areas and the rare habitats
and species that can be found only in the Essex Region. The tours that
follow range from easy to moderate physical activity and feature camping
and rustic accommodations. They are for ages 18 and up, with a minimum of

Hike/Bike/Paddle
Enjoy a summer active weekend that showcases the rare
flora and fauna in the Essex Region. Enjoy a brisk hike at Point Pelee National
Park and an adventurous cycle through Two Creeks Conservation Area. ‘Hike the
dyke’ at Hillman Marsh Conservation Area to see the newly constructed
shorebird habitat, and experience an amazing canoe trip down Cedar Creek.
Registration - Minimum 8 - Maximum 16.
Must be at least 18 years of age. Activity Level - Moderate.
Wild Women’s Weekend - Amherstburg Area
Calling all Wild Women! Get back in tune with yourself and with nature
as you have an adventure of a lifetime. Experience a ‘We don’t need no
stinking maps!’ Orienteering Course. Learn archery skills, and pick your own
lunch on an ‘edible wild’ hike. Try sea kayaking on for size amongst other
adventures.
Registration - Minimum 8 - Maximum 16.
Must be a woman at least 18 years of age.
Activity Level - Easy - Moderate.
Autumn Birding Adventures - Amherstburg Area
With a focus on Holiday Beach Conservation Area, this adventurous
weekend will highlight why Holiday Beach has been identified as a global
“Important Bird Area” (IBA) by Bird Studies Canada. Participate in a Hawk
Identification workshop, stand high atop the viewing tower, and join in the
guided hawk hike. If the weather is right, witness the marvelous migration of
monarchs and dragonflies. Experience the southern tip of Canada’s mainland at
Point Pelee National Park, another global IBA , and enjoy the ‘Festival of
Hawks’ back at Holiday Beach Conservation Area!
Registration - Minimum 8 - Maximum 16.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
