The Canadian Transplant Association (CTA) has awarded the City of Windsor the privilege of hosting the 2008 Canadian Transplant Games. Over 300 transplant recipients from across the country, ranging in age from 5 to 76, will gather in Windsor to compete, volunteer and support one another. Sports featured include track and field, swimming, tennis, table tennis, squash, badminton, golf, volleyball, lawn bowling and bowling.

Now in its 24th year (2008), the popular Essex County Steam & Gas Engine Show will this year feature John Deere tractors and machinery. This year the show also welcomes the Mini of Windsor Owners Group, and once again features a parade (Saturday), various working displays, flea market, craft and food vendors and a bake sale. The three-day event is held the second weekend in August.
