Canadian Cultural Experience - Southwestern
Ontario Heritage Village Southwestern Ontario Heritage Village brings together over a dozen buildings of local significance, which date to the late 1800s. The two-storey log cabin, the Olinda General Store, Woodslee Lock-up and Elford Church have been restored to their original state, and feature various pioneer demonstrations. The Transportation Museum displays modes of transportation from the mid-1800's onward, from a horse-drawn hearse and fire trucks to the oldest running Canadian-made automobile. Southwestern Ontario Heritage Village and Transportation Museum is just one stop on the Canadian Cultural Experience Tour, which takes a look at the manmade and natural features that make our region unique, from the auto industry that forms the backbone of our economy to the distilling magnate who built-up an entire section of our city, and contributed to its cultural richness. More history can be found at local historic sites, and you'll find flora and fauna unique to our area at the southernmost tip of mainland Canada! Experience our British and French heritage with special themed meal stops to round out the day. |
