Heritage Tour - Nazrey AME Church National Historic Site & North American Black
Historical Museum, Amherstburg This Museum, which opened in 1975, was founded by Mr. Melvin Simpson to promote the community's pride in their heritage. It chronicles the achievements of black North Americans, starting with their culture in Africa, moving through the years of slavery and continuing on to present day achievements. The Church, restored and reopened in 2001, is designated a National Historic Site. The Church and Museum are just one stop on The Road That Led To Freedom tour, which can also include visits to John Freeman Walls Historic Site, Sandwich Baptist Church, Uncle Tom's Cabin Historic Site, Buxton National Historic Site, and the W.I.S.H. Centre, as well as related sites in Detroit, Michigan. |
